Q: What is this again?

A: Content* is an immersive art event taking place at the Society Hotel Portland for one night, March 9, 2024. Artists get to take over a room, which they can use to express their creativity within the confines of a hotel room. Think more “experiential” vs “gallery”. During the event, ticketed patrons will get the chance to tour room by room and at the end we all party together

Q: What time is the event?

A: Content will open to guests 6-11pm on March 9, 2024, but we are also considering an afternoon viewing from 12-4pm - more to come on that

Q: What can we do to the rooms?

A: Let your imagination run free but, in short, artists cannot do anything that phsycally alters the actual room in any way. Holes in walls? Sorry boo. Painting them? Not a thing. Changing light fixtures from static to dimmers? Hmm…..not likely. Wanna build a giant hamster maze in room for your pet Frenchie, Babygirl , to run thru though? Have at it! Just make sure you can break it all down and pack it out the following night and we’ll be Gucci.

Q: How long does each artist get to set up?

A: Load in is the night before on March 8th and the event is the next day on March 9th. Load out will be the next day, March 10th.

Q: So how much does all of this cost?

A: The only costs associated with participating in Content are the cost of the hotel room for both nights and the costs incurred to create your vision. The hotel room has been subsidized so would be $175 for the 2 nights & the rest is up to you! We’re working on a few scholarships that would be available but more on that to come!

Q: What about the skrilla? Why would i pay to participate?

A: We’re structuring Content on a co-op model that has worked well in the past. This time around, Content is privately funded and volunteer run. We just really wanna bring back an immersive community event to help bring a little zing back into our dear PDX and we need YOU to make that happen.
